In 2010, Patek Philippe replaced the Lemania-based 5070 with the 5170, which features the first in-house chronograph movement from the brand, the caliber CH 29-535 PS. This was an important accomplishment for the company.
In 2013, Patek debuted the white gold edition, reference number 5170G. It is available in two very similar but distinct 18k white gold models, the 5170G-001 with a white dial and the 5170G-010 with a black dial.
This offered 5170G-001 timepiece has a white dial, white gold Breguet numerals with baton-shaped hands, and a pulsation scale, making it a type of doctor's watch. Its characteristics exemplify Patek Philippe's classic aesthetic, evoking chronograph predecessors such as reference 130.
