The Third-Generation 157X, caliber 1575, uses an overcoil balance spring, is rhodium-plated with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with a shock absorber mechanism and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance adjusted to heat, cold, and 5 positions, a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a hacking mechanism.
Introduced in 1969 until 1979, the reference 1680 is the first Submariner with date, updating the famous 5513 (stopped circa 1989). The reference 1680 also had the chronometer status. This model also introduced the Cyclops date magnifier to the Submariner line. THE mechanism oscillates at the frequency of 19,800 vph (2.75 Hz)
Case, dial, and movement are all signed. 
The serial number 330**** confirms the years of production in 1973-74.

Rolex experimented with dial design in its early years, leading collectors to classify the various dials as Mark I through Mark VII. This beautiful well preserved Mark VI example has a  four-line matte black dial that features painted tritium hour markers and tritium-filled hands that have aged in the same beautiful light cream color, as well as a Cyclops magnification lens on its acrylic crystal for the date window.

This Rolex "Red" Submariner is in fine shape and comes with a Rolex period box, a copy of the handwritten papers with the date of sale in 1975, an original Rolex servicing invoice dated 1978, and a copy of a servicing receipt dated 2014 from the official Rolex retailer Mundwiller in Switzerland. It is also covered by the Twain Time 12-month limited warranty.

Returns & Exchanges
