The self-winding caliber 3035 automatic movement is rhodium-plated. It incorporates a Bréguet overcoil and Rolex’s own Microstella regulating system, which consists of four timing screws that act as weights on the balance rim. The Microstella regulating system provides the caliber with a higher accuracy as it means being able to adjust the rate. It is constructed  of 27 jewels, a free sprung Bréguet balance spring and a monometallic balance adjusted to cold, heat, isochronism and five positions.
Rolex signature and yellow gold Rolex crown at 12 o'clock
The iconic Buckley dial signified by the painted Roman numerals was rumored to be named after a well-known Rolex collector.
The Datejust model was first launched by Rolex in 1945.
The 36 mm version of the Datejust, Rolex's longest running model was powered by the caliber 3035 (refered to as the high-beat caliber 1575) from its introduction in 1977 until it was replaced by the current movement, the 3135, in 1988.
