The Rolex Submariner Date Kermit, reference 16610T, features a round, three-body case that is both brushed and polished, providing a sophisticated finish. The hands are crafted from 18K white gold and include a luminescent Mercedes hour hand, a spade minute hand, and a stick seconds hand. For precise time setting, the watch includes a stop-seconds function. A Cyclops lens magnifies the date at the 3 o'clock position, enhancing legibility. The crown and case back are made of stainless steel, with a waterproof screw-down crown and a screw-down case back, supported by the Triplock triple waterproofness system.

THE MOVEMENT

This model is powered by the caliber 3135, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. It is a certified Swiss chronometer, having passed the rigorous tests of the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). The movement includes a Parachrom hairspring, which offers greater resistance to shocks and temperature variations. Oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), the architecture of this Oyster watch movement ensures exceptional reliability.

THE MODEL DETAILS

Belonging to the Mark VII series, this particular example comes from the M series (serial # M93****). The case is categorized as C2, the dial as D4, and the bezel as B4. The bezel (B4) features a pointed four and “Square 5,” where the internal corners of the five in ‘50’ are shaped like squares. The dial (D4) has a round “O” in "Rolex" and narrowly spaced ‘Oyster Perpetual Date,’ with the ‘R’ of Oyster sitting between the legs of the ‘R’ in Rolex. It also features a narrow ‘Swiss Made’ inscription with three shortened minute markers, and the 28 and 32 markers are lengthened. The case (C2) design from 2008 includes a serial number moved to the rehaut ring with the ‘Rolex Rolex Rolex’ engraving, while the model number remains between the lugs at 12. The latest examples feature a randomized serial number.

Rolex introduced the original Submariner Date in 1953. This updated model, reference 16610T, produced from 2003 to 2010, omits the side holes, offering a cleaner, more refined look. It was succeeded by the "Hulk."
