The Third-Generation 157X, caliber 1575, uses an overcoil balance spring, is rhodium-plated with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with a shock absorber mechanism and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, adjusted to heat, cold, and 5 positions, a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a hacking mechanism.
Introduced in 1969 until 1979, the reference 1680 is the first Submariner with date, updating the famous 5513 (stopped circa 1989). The reference 1680 also had the chronometer status. This model also introduced the Cyclops date magnifier to the Submariner line.
This mechanism oscillates at the frequency of 19,800 vph (2.75 Hz)
