15K Yellow Gold and Garnet Cannetille Necklace ca 1830s-40s
This rich Georgian necklace/brooch set with sumptuous garnets into 15K yellow gold is in pristine condition.
The intricately detailed, hand-fabricated, coiled wire work is referred to as cannetille, named after the gold embroideries of the Napoleonic years.
- A necklace and a cross style brooch that can also be worn as one.
- The square, oval and rectangular shape garnets are foil-backed and accented by small seed pearls.
- We attribute this piece of jewelry to the late-Georgian period (late 1830’s - early 1840’s)
- Accompanied by the original fitted leather box.
